#RhodeScholar Kat is a marathoner!

I spent 4 hours, 42 minutes yesterday earning the right to say this: I’m a marathoner! It’s still a little surreal that I did that – and that after 4 months of training, it’s already over – so maybe a brief recap will help it all sink in.

#RhodeScholar Brittany reviews #RhodeRaces

This weekend I ran the United Healthcare Providence Half Marathon. Also known as that time I took a walking tour of Providence. But that’s ok. I went into this race with very few goals and expectations. Finish, don’t blow out my knee and try to have a good time despite what was sure to be a slow race. And you know what- that’s exactly what I did.

#RhodeScholar Michelle gets rewarded by the first leg of #UHCTC

I completed the Cox Rhode Races Half-Marathon - the first leg of the United Healthcare Triple Crown - yesterday, and I can honestly say that it was one of the most rewarding race experiences I’ve ever had.

#RhodeScholar Katie reports back

The short report: The official time was 3:22:38. On the up side, that’s a 4 minute PR. On the downside, I think I’m in better shape.

Now, the slightly longer version…

#RhodeScholar Courtney runs her first half marathon!

It happened! On Sunday I ran 13.1 miles for the first time in my life. And it felt so good. The best part was crossing the finish line…and seeing all of our supporters on the sidelines.

#RhodeScholar Mallory reviews the first stop of the #UHCTC!

On Sunday, May 6, I ran my 7th half marathon, the Providence UnitedHealthcare Half Marathon, as the first leg of the UnitedHealthcare Triple Crown of Running.  I was familiar with the course as I’d run it before and the weather was spectacular.  It was mid 50’s and a little overcast with a slight breeze.  Perfect for running.

#RhodeScholar Katie counts down to #RhodeRaces!

Being a part of the runners blogging club, I often read posts entitled “why I run” (or something like that). A few of the posts are quite elegant, and do make me feel something. I don’t know what exactly, but something. Some of the posts read more like a list of pros. Yes, it’s true that there are a number of pros that come along with running.

#RhodeScholar Amy enjoys spring break training

April 28 - Today I completed my last longish run before the Cox Rhode Races Half Marathon next weekend in Providence, Rhode Island. I’ve been on Spring Break this week, and even though I didn’t find myself flying off across the pond to Paris or Austria, or even taking a more local vacay to sunny Florida, I did have a good week of running.

#RhodeScholar Katie attacks Murphy’s Law

The first week of tapering was fine. Sort of. I wound up with 40 miles, but came down with some intestinal virus that kept me in bed and feeling awful by the weekend. This week of tapering has been terrible. I’ve run about 28 miles, less than I wanted, and I haven’t been feeling well. (That whole intestinal virus has been kicking my butt.)

#RhodeScholar Michelle looks into the horizon

Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that I love talking about myrunning, and my races, and my track workouts, and how far and fast I’ve run, and whether or not I got a PR or won an age-group award.
