#RhodeScholar Katie attacks Murphy’s Law

The first week of tapering was fine. Sort of. I wound up with 40 miles, but came down with some intestinal virus that kept me in bed and feeling awful by the weekend. This week of tapering has been terrible. I’ve run about 28 miles, less than I wanted, and I haven’t been feeling well. (That whole intestinal virus has been kicking my butt.)

#RhodeScholar Tim prepares a training diet

“We’re going on a diet!”

Was it really that time again already?

“I’m on a diet,” I tried to argue. “According to the dictionary, my diet is just the foods I eat, so…”

#RhodeScholar Kat begins to taper!

Before I recap week 15 of marathon training, let’s take a second to talk about last Monday, when a first-time marathoner took on and finished Boston in the blazing heat.

#RhodeScholar Mallory gets motivated

Oh right, I guess I should do some of it.  I’ve done a 3 mile run this week and that’s it.  I have been burnt out with running for the past two week and have not gotten as many miles in as I would like.  The runs I have done just have not been fun so I don’t feel motivated to do it.  I am planning to run outside tomorrow, early afternoon, at an easy pace, just to get out there.  I hope it is fun.  I am looking forward to the first race in the Triple Crown Series on May 6.  I will be out of my funk by then and expect it to be a great race.  This will be my first time running a race for a second time!

#RhodeScholar Michelle excited to kick off #UHCTC soon!

The pain of the marathon’s final miles are so quickly forgotten, and I’m already anxiously awaiting the next time I get to pin a race number to my shirt.

Lucky for me, it’s right around the corner - the Cox Rhode Races half-marathon on May 6, also known as the first leg of the United Healthcare Triple Crown.

#RhodeScholar Amy explores Boston!

April 16 - Good luck to everyone running in the Boston Marathon today! You rock!

The weekend was a whirlwind of running events. On Friday my Crazy Running Partner and I headed to Boston for a running girls night out.

Our first stop was the 2012 Boston Marathon Expo at the Seaport World Trade Center. CRP has finished the Boston Marathon twice and she thought I needed to see this expo. Huge. Loved it. Wish we had more time to hang out.

#RhodeScholar Kat leaves a mark at mile 12!

The OMG 20-miler started off innocuously enough. Team Flail (Andrew, Adam, John and me, minus Matt) met up at Adam’s apartment Saturday morning, mostly awake and resigned to our long-run fate. We headed out past the Museum of Science – where the T Rex statue is wearing a #65,000,000 bib in honor of tomorrow’s Big Race – and followed the south side of the Charles River well into Watertown.
