#RhodeScholar Kat begins to taper!

Before I recap week 15 of marathon training, let’s take a second to talk about last Monday, when a first-time marathoner took on and finished Boston in the blazing heat.

#RhodeScholar Michelle excited to kick off #UHCTC soon!

The pain of the marathon’s final miles are so quickly forgotten, and I’m already anxiously awaiting the next time I get to pin a race number to my shirt.

Lucky for me, it’s right around the corner - the Cox Rhode Races half-marathon on May 6, also known as the first leg of the United Healthcare Triple Crown.

#RhodeScholar Jennifer ran her first 20 Miler!

It seems like just yesterday it was January 1st and I was beginning my marathon training…..well ok maybe it feels a little longer than that! But in all seriousness I can not believe that I’ve completed 12 out of 18 weeks of training. With just six short weeks left, I’m down to the final stretch. This week, I’m going to run my first 20 miler (SCARY!). This will be the furthest distance I’ve ever run AND the furthest distance I have to run in my training. After this week I have just 39 short days of training left until the Cox Providence Marathon! With some Peanut Butter Gu and positive thinking I should be able to complete it!

#RhodeScholar Kat ran the Boston Marathon sort of.

Even though it’s a pullback week, #11 had a few more first-time milestones: alonger tempo (8:30 min/mile) run; an 8-miler that covered a good chunk of theBoston marathon course…

#RhodeScholar Amy ran an unexpected half!

March 24 - Last weekend I ran a half marathon that wasn’t planned. I did it because I’ve been feeling amazing. I did it because I want to maintain my fitness level for the next one that is on my schedule - the Cox Rhode Races Half Marathon. I did it because it was insanely fun to sign up at the last minute, and KNOW that I COULD do it.

#RhodeScholar Katie is secretly addicted to … Roswell?

This has to be my craziest marathon training cycle to date. On the home front, we have been busy. So very busy, that I haven’t been thinking much about training. Everyone also got sick again, but for whatever reason the sickness didn’t really impact my running much. The children have been cranky, phlegm has been flying around, and let’s not forget about that sea of snot, but my running has been fine. And so, for the most part, I’m dealing well.

#RhodeScholar Kat finds marathon training… hard

Week 10 of training for the Cox Rhode Races marathon was, in a word, hard – even though it was also a shortened week because I moved the long run up a day. The yoga, step aerobics & rest day were no big whoop. Still, the intervals got longer, and the aforementioned long … (Click on Kat’s blog link for the full story!)
