#RhodeScholar Kat leaves a mark at mile 12!

The OMG 20-miler started off innocuously enough. Team Flail (Andrew, Adam, John and me, minus Matt) met up at Adam’s apartment Saturday morning, mostly awake and resigned to our long-run fate. We headed out past the Museum of Science – where the T Rex statue is wearing a #65,000,000 bib in honor of tomorrow’s Big Race – and followed the south side of the Charles River well into Watertown.

Meet our newest #RhodeScholar Tim!

This is Tim Woodbury from Midpack Runner. I’m proud today to announce that I’ve just joined the ranks of the Rhode Scholars for the 2012 Amica Marathon this October in Newport, Rhode Island.

As a member of the Rhode Scholars, over the next several months leading up to the race I’ll be coming to you with a detailed look into what it is that I’m doing to prepare myself for this marathon. At the same time, I’ll be sprinkling these videos with bits of advice – tip, tricks, exercises that you can use to get yourself to your fall races in the best shape you’ve ever been in.

#RhodeScholar Jennifer ran her first 20 Miler!

It seems like just yesterday it was January 1st and I was beginning my marathon training…..well ok maybe it feels a little longer than that! But in all seriousness I can not believe that I’ve completed 12 out of 18 weeks of training. With just six short weeks left, I’m down to the final stretch. This week, I’m going to run my first 20 miler (SCARY!). This will be the furthest distance I’ve ever run AND the furthest distance I have to run in my training. After this week I have just 39 short days of training left until the Cox Providence Marathon! With some Peanut Butter Gu and positive thinking I should be able to complete it!

#RhodeScholar Katie is secretly addicted to … Roswell?

This has to be my craziest marathon training cycle to date. On the home front, we have been busy. So very busy, that I haven’t been thinking much about training. Everyone also got sick again, but for whatever reason the sickness didn’t really impact my running much. The children have been cranky, phlegm has been flying around, and let’s not forget about that sea of snot, but my running has been fine. And so, for the most part, I’m dealing well.
